If you’re a small business owner posting on social media but not really seeing results, you’re definitely not alone.
A lot of people rely on Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook to grow their business, but it can start to feel overwhelming fast. You might be posting here and there, trying different things, but not really knowing what’s actually working.
I’ve seen this firsthand, especially working in resale and small business environments, and one thing I’ve learned is this:
It’s not about posting more—it’s about posting with a purpose.
Once you start being intentional with your content, everything starts to click more.
Know Who You’re Talking To
Before anything else, you have to understand your audience.
For my content, I’m focusing on small business owners and entrepreneurs—people who:
- Want to grow their brand
- Want more sales
- But struggle with consistency or knowing what to post
If that’s you, you’re not doing anything wrong—you just might not have a clear strategy yet.
One thing I always think about is:
👉 “Would this actually help my audience?”
If the answer is no, it’s probably not the right content.
The 3 Types of Content You Should Be Posting
To keep things simple, I like to break content into 3 categories. If you focus on these, your social media will feel way less overwhelming.
1. Content That Helps (Builds Trust)
This is where you give your audience something useful.
Examples:
- Tips on how to stay consistent
- How to get more engagement
- Simple social media strategies
This type of content shows that you actually know what you’re doing—and people start to trust you.
2. Content That Feels Real (Builds Connection)
People don’t connect with perfect—they connect with real.
This could be:
- Behind-the-scenes of your business
- Packing orders
- Talking about a challenge you’ve had
This is honestly one of the most important types of content because it makes your brand feel human.
3. Content That Sells (But Doesn’t Feel Pushy)
At the end of the day, you are running a business—you can sell.
Just make it feel natural.
Examples:
- Showing your product in action
- Limited-time deals
- Customer reviews
A big thing here is not being afraid to promote yourself. If people don’t know what you offer, they can’t buy from you.
Consistency Over Perfection
This is where a lot of people get stuck.
You don’t need perfect content. You don’t need the best camera. You don’t need everything to look flawless.
You just need to show up consistently.
Even posting a few times a week with intention is enough to:
- Keep your business visible
- Build trust over time
- Stay on your audience’s mind
Consistency is what actually grows your brand.
Think Bigger Than One Post
One post isn’t going to change everything—but showing up consistently will.
When you keep:
- Helping your audience
- Showing your personality
- Sharing what you offer
You start to build something bigger—trust.
And once people trust you, they’re way more likely to support your business and come back again.
If social media feels overwhelming right now, simplify it.
You don’t need to do everything—you just need to do the right things.
Start with this:
- Focus on your audience
- Pick one type of content
- Stay consistent this week
That’s it.
That’s how you start turning followers into actual customers.
